The Australian Conservatoire of Ballet (ACB) is a classical ballet training and and assessment program. Devised by former principle ballerina of the Australian Ballet, Christine Walsh AM, the programme is based on the Russian Vaganova method of classical training.
Traditionally, the Vaganova method is an 8 year programme used in many full time training establishments world wide creating high calibre dancers such as Rudolf Nureyev, Natalia Makarova, Mikhail Baryshnikov and Svetlana Zakharova. Wanting to design a programme to suit the needs of classical ballet students unable to undertake full time study from an early age, Christine used her 24 years of professional experience to create a 12 year programme, from Pre-Primary through to Excellence Level. The ACB aims to train students towards the requirements of the professional dance industry through the development of a strong, stable technique with beauty of line, artistic quality, expressiveness and a professional attitude.
