About Rebecca
Rebecca commenced full time dance training at the age of 11 at Elmhurst Ballet School in the U.K. She went on to further her training at The Royal Ballet School, where she first practiced the Pilates method as part of her classical training.
Rebecca went on to become a professional dancer and enjoyed a varied career both in the U.K. and internationally performing in theatre, cabaret and television. While performing in a musical in London’s West End, Rebecca sustained a serious injury that would go on to end her dancing career. It was after surgery that she rediscovered the benefits of Pilates.
In 2003, Rebecca undertook a one year full-time Pilates Teachers’ Course with world respected Pilates mentor Alan Herdman. Alan was responsible for introducing Pilates to the U.K. and set up Britain’s first Pilates studio in the 1970s.
Upon graduation, Rebecca went on to teach at London’s exclusive Chelsea Harbour Club, The Pilates Studio and alongside Lesley Ackland in her Body Maintenance Studio, situated in London’s Pineapple Dance Studios.
Since arriving in Australia, Rebecca has had the privilege of working at The Body Refinery in Brisbane as part of a team of physiotherapists and other health professionals. Rebecca’s teaching experience includes a broad range of clients, from post-operative rehabilitation to triathletes and everywhere in between!
Blending her extensive knowledge of dance, rehabilitation and injury prevention, Rebecca is uniquely qualified to deliver high quality Pilates training to our dancers.
